Morgon, Beaujolais, France. 100% Gamay. Practicing organic.
Raphaël Chopin revived his great-grandfather's domaine in 2009 after studying and working in Australia, converting it to organic in 2020. His 5 hectares span Beaujolais-Lantignié, Morgon, and Régnié, with vineyards on granite, schist, and clay-limestone soils. Vines range from 1905 to 1989 plantings, with low yields (35-50 hl/ha) and hand-harvested grapes. Whole bunch, semi-carbonic maceration is done with native yeast, minimal sulfur (15-30 mg), and no filtration.
